The lethargy during the break in the storm

location: Home - watching my cute fishies
mood: lethargiclethargic
music: the fridge is rumbling - my belly isn't

I have survived an 8am lecture, 3 tutorials in a row and a subsequent teaching meeting. Not bad for a Monday. I didn't find my jokes funny the third time I told them. I'm not sure they were exactly funny the first time either but hey, they don't expect too much wit from us. I've discovered that 1hr tutorials are just long enough to get the students actually excited about the task at hand before telling them to stop doing it. Sigh.

Now safely ensconced at home in front of my beloved Mac I have just enough time to finish designing a worksheet on the parts of speech before heading off to swordfight. Oh and I probably should eat something. Sigh.

The colour of Dylan's aquarium rocks don't match his scales. This is bothering my artistic sensibilities. Won't really be able to do anything about it until Thursday. Sigh.

The calm before the storm...

mood: calmcalm

My weekend was just what I needed before the craziness of the new semester. I spent Saturday shopping with mum, then whiled away the evening reading Celtic history while the Marquis was at the AFL. Sunday dawned with much excitement as I went to buy two new fishy friends: Mick (a solid red, traditionally shaped fighter) and Dylan (a very light blue, red, and white crown tail fighter with brownish blotches on his face - he looks every inch the stoner like his namesake!). They have now settled into their new homes splendidly - Sid felt the need to show off to his new friends while Hendrix's face showed the distinct thought of "oh god here we go again". Poor Hendy just likes to swim in peace.

Sunday night I spent a few hours reading my textbook for "Reading, Writing and Imagaination" (or WRI as it will henceforth be known) - not bad - hope the students get a lot out of it, i centainly found it interesting, although I realised i need a bit of a refresher on the more obscure parts of speech (i stumbled over an auxiliary verb for a moment)- luckily I have just the book to help. Ahhh writing mechanics.
